What Would You Tell Your 25-Year-Old Self?

I had a fantastic conversation with an old friend recently. We worked at the Franklin Mint back in the day, and our chat took us back in time to when we were just starting our careers in earnest. We were young and hungry to grow and were lucky to have bosses and teammates who made it a genuine pleasure to go to work.

I’ve always felt blessed in that way. My next move to Brooks & Bentley was a game-changer, with a great team and mentors instrumental in my growth and path to work for Disney in the US. That trend continued, both with Disney Direct and Home Entertainment, divisions filled with good people, passionate leaders, and wonderful teammates, some of which became lifelong friends.

As we navigate through our careers, we accumulate invaluable experiences and lessons. We learn how to celebrate wins, embrace failures, or achieve better results next time.

We discover the importance of mentorships, networking, and how to give back to others.

We change our focus as we mature, seeing opportunities and problems through a different lens that only hands-on experiences can bring.

We thrive under true leaders and experience those less inspirational, which shapes how we want to treat others as we take on more senior roles.

If you could go back in time and have a conversation with your 25-year-old self, what wisdom would you share? What lessons have been most pivotal in shaping your journey?

I want to collect insights and create a dialogue that helps and inspires others. Your story and advice might be exactly what someone needs to hear today. Who’s with me?

And if you want to know what I would say to my younger self, reach out. There are so many fun stories to share.
